Freeze-out configuration in multifragmentation

چکیده
The excitation energy and the nuclear density at the time of breakup are extracted for the α + Au reaction at beam energies of 1 and 3.6 GeV/nucleon. These quantities are calculated from the average relative velocity of intermediate mass fragments (IMF) at large correlation angles as a function of the multiplicity of IMFs using a statistical model coupled with many-body Coulomb trajectory calculations. The Coulomb component ~vc and thermal component ~v0 are found to depend oppositely on the excitation energy, IMFs multiplicity, and freeze-out density. These dependencies allow the determination of both the volume and the mean excitation energy at the time of breakup. It is found that the volume remained constant as the beam energy was increased, with a breakup density of about ρ0/7, but that the excitation energy increased 25% to about 5.5 MeV/nucleon.

Statistical Properties of Fragment Isospin in Multifragmentation
It is shown that the chemical equilibrium condition of the system can be unambiguously identified by analyzing the isospin evolution of fragments produced in nuclear multifragmentation process. As far as the chemical equilibrium is established, the isotope production can be used for finding properties of nuclear matter and fragments in the freeze-out volume, for example, via the isoscaling phen...

Abstract We investigate, in microcanonical multifragmentation models, the influence of the amount of energy dissipated in break-up fragments excitation on freeze-out volume determination. Assuming a limiting temperature decreasing with nuclear mass, we obtain for the Xe+Sn at 32 MeV/nucleon reaction [J. D. Frankland et al., Nucl. Phys. A689, 905 (2001); A689, 940 (2001)] a freeze-out volume alm...
متن کاملFreeze-out volume in multifragmentation - dynamical simulations
Stochastic mean-field simulations for multifragmenting sources at the same excitation energy per nucleon have been performed. The freeze-out volume, a concept which needs to be precisely defined in this dynamical approach, was shown to increase as a function of three parameters: freeze-out instant, fragment multiplicity and system size. We study the anisotropy effects measured with INDRA at GSI in central collisions of 129Xe+natSn at 50 AMeV and 197Au+197Au at 60, 80, 100 AMeV incident energy. The microcanonical multifragmentation model with non-spherical sources is used to simulate an incomplete shape relaxation of the multifragmenting system. This model is employed to interpret observed anisotropic distributions in the fragm...
متن کاملExternal Coulomb and Angular Momentum Influence on Isotope Composition of Nuclear Fragments
The Markov chain statistical multifragmentation model predicts inhomogeneous distributions of fragments and their isospin in the freeze-out volume caused by an angular momentum and external long-range Coulomb field. These effects can take place in peripheral nucleus-nucleus collisions at intermediate energies and lead to neutron-rich isotopes produced in the midrapidity kinematic region of the ...
